Hello everyone!
I never thought I'd say this, but the MTC is amazing. The first few days felt like weeks, but I can't believe it's been a week already. Even though we spend hours and hours in the classroom studying or with a teacher, it goes by so quickly.
I've learned a lot about myself and how one of my biggest coping mechanisms is laughter. As a district we've had some incredibly spiritual moments, but we also can laugh together a lot.
The biggest thing I've been learning is I can't do this by myself. When I'm humble enough to realize that the Spirit is in control and I'm merely a vessel, I can teach. My comp and I were getting ready to teach a TRC (members who pretend to be investigators) Jessica, and neither of us knew what to teach about. So we prayed for inspiration to know what she needed. We had just had a lesson about making our lessons relevant by asking questions and that's something we knew Jessica needed, was to realize how the Gospel applied to her. So we decided to teach the Plan of Salvation and center it on the Atonement. We went in there and started teaching, trying to ask questions etc. It wasn't working, I could tell she wasn't with us and she didn't respond to anything we asked her. After floundering for a few minutes, we just stopped and asked her what she was thinking. Then she opened up to us and explained how she was feeling. We were able to take what she said and testify of the Atonement while relating it specifically to her. The spirit was really strong and she even got emotional. Once again, I realized how the Spirit is the ultimate teacher.
All in all, it's been a great week! I can feel how Christ is trying to work with me in shaping me into something He can use.
Love you all,
